Million Dollar Verdict Enhanced with Interest, Fees and Costs

In May, Michael Raymond and Dan McCarthy secured an unanimous verdict against First Mercury Insurance Company in a $1 million bad-faith jury trial. Post trial motions included a claim for attorneys’ fees, prejudgment interest and taxable costs. First Mercury opposed the claim for fees and prejudgment interest.

In its recent ruling,  the Court  agreed with Raymond and McCarthy’s arguments and awarded their client every penny of attorneys’ fees requested, i.e., $266K.  The firm also won big when it argued that the Court should award prejudgment interest dating back to 2015– the date the client first paid what should have been First Mercury’s obligation. The result: an award of $358K in prejudgment interest. All totaled, the judgment awarded on July 12 in our client’s favor equals $1,634,982. Needless to say our client is thrilled with the result.

While not every case results in a million dollar verdict, our firm treats every case with the same care and attention that we provided in our client’s claim against First Mercury.  Whether you are an individual, a corporation or even an insurer with a claim against another insurer, look to Raymond, Greer and McCarthy for advice concerning your next insurance dispute.
